About Perfume Match
An independent fragrance guide covering 24 designer and niche perfumes, written by one person rather than an SEO content farm.

In short
Perfume Match is run by Kilian Haas from Munich. It compares 12 designer fragrances, 12 niche houses and 5 dupe pairings on notes, wear time, projection and price. Rankings are written before any retailer link is attached, and no brand or shop pays for placement or ordering.
Who writes this
Perfume Match is written and maintained by Kilian Haas, based in Munich. It is a one-person project, not a network site. If a verdict on this site is wrong, there is exactly one person to blame, and you can reach him at info@perfume-match.com.
We are not a retailer and we do not sell fragrance. We are also not affiliated with any of the fragrance houses covered here, and we do not accept free bottles in exchange for coverage.
How fragrances are assessed
What the numbers on this site mean, and what they do not mean.
- 1
Wear time is a reported range, not a lab measurement
Every wear time on this site is a typical range on normal skin, cross-checked against multiple independent sources rather than measured under controlled conditions. Real longevity varies enormously with skin type, hydration, temperature and how much you apply. Dry skin can halve it. Treat these as orientation, not as specification.
- 2
Projection is judged in three bands, not scored out of ten
Intimate, moderate or strong. A number out of ten implies a precision that does not exist for something this subjective, so we do not use one.
- 3
Notes come from the house, structure from the drydown
Published note pyramids are marketing documents and are frequently incomplete. We list them because they are useful shorthand, but the descriptions of how a fragrance actually develops are based on the drydown, which is what you and everyone around you smells for most of the day.
- 4
Prices are shown as bands, never as fixed figures
Fragrance prices move weekly and vary by 30 to 40 percent between retailers. A hardcoded price would be wrong within days, so we show bands and link to live retailer results instead.
- 5
Dupe claims are only listed when they are well established
Dupe pairings circulate fast and mutate. We only list comparisons that are consistently and widely reported, we rate how close each one actually gets, and we always say where the cheaper option falls short. No dupe smells identical to its original.
How this site makes money
The short version: affiliate commission, and nothing else.
Some links to retailers are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page source.
What that does not buy: a ranking, a placement or a kinder verdict. Every guide on this site is written and ordered before retailer links are attached, and no brand or shop has ever been given the option to pay for position. There is no display advertising, no sponsored content and no paid reviews.
We also do not host or embed brand product photography we have no licence for. The bottle artwork across the site is our own illustration, generated from each fragrance’s note profile.
What is covered
Deliberately small and opinionated rather than an exhaustive database.
- 6 designer fragrances for men
- 6 designer fragrances for women
- 12 niche houses
- 5 dupe pairings
- 28 verified video reviews
- Price comparison across 6 retailers
There are databases with a hundred thousand entries. This is not one of them. Every fragrance here was chosen because it is either genuinely worth owning or so widely bought that an honest verdict is useful.
Corrections
If something here is factually wrong, tell us and it gets fixed. Reformulations in particular make fragrance writing go stale: a review written in 2015 may describe a scent that no longer exists in the bottle. Email info@perfume-match.com. Operator details are in the imprint.
